Mary Lou Retton Battles Pneumonia in ICU
Mary Lou Retton, Olympic gold medalist and West Virginia native, is currently fighting a severe case of pneumonia. She’s in the intensive care unit, battling for her life.
Known for her inspiring athletic career, Retton now needs support and prayers more than ever.
Daughter Speaks Out and Launches Fundraiser
The alarming news broke when her daughter, McKenna Kelley, shared an update. Kelley launched a Spotfund campaign to inform the public about her mother’s condition.
According to Kelley, Retton has been in ICU for over a week. The illness has left her unable to breathe on her own. Out of respect for privacy, Kelley didn’t share further medical details. However, she did reveal a painful truth — Retton does not have health insurance.
In an emotional Instagram story, Kelley pleaded,
“Please consider helping our family out, and most importantly, please continue to pray.”
