White House issues statement following President Trump’s remarks about Taylor Swift

Trump Targets Swift—Again

Recently, President Donald Trump took another jab at pop icon Taylor Swift. On his platform, Truth Social, he claimed the singer is “no longer hot.” This isn’t his first public comment about Swift.

White House Responds

Now, the White House has weighed in. During a press briefing, Fox News reporter Peter Doocy asked for clarification on Trump’s remark.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt replied:

“Look, he’s speaking about Taylor Swift’s political views and how perhaps it has impacted public support for her work. I’ll leave it at that.”

Trump’s Earlier Post

Before the press conference, Trump had posted:

“Has anyone noticed that, since I said ‘I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT,’ she’s no longer ‘HOT?’”

The post referred to Swift’s support for Vice President Kamala Harris after the 2024 debate. That same month, Swift condemned fake AI-generated images used to promote the Trump campaign.

Swift’s Political Journey

Swift first went public with her political beliefs in 2018. In a widely shared Instagram post, she wrote:

“In the past, I’ve been reluctant to share my political opinions. But recent events have changed that. I vote for candidates who defend human rights.”

She criticized Tennessee Senator Marsha Blackburn, citing her votes against equal pay for women, the Violence Against Women Act, and LGBTQ+ rights. Instead, Swift backed Democrat Phil Bredesen for Senate and Jim Cooper for the House.

She urged her fans to vote thoughtfully, adding:

“We may never agree 100% with a candidate, but we still have to vote.”

Since then, she’s remained outspoken about politics and voting rights.

Swift Stays Silent (For Now)

So far, Taylor Swift hasn’t responded to Trump’s latest comment. Whether she chooses to reply remains to be seen.
