“Found These Yellow Kitchen Tools While Cleaning — Any Idea What They Are?”

While tidying up the kitchen in my husband’s former home, I stumbled across a drawer full of these bright yellow items — and I’ll admit, I was puzzled at first. Shaped like tiny ears of corn with two sharp metal prongs, they were neatly arranged but gave no obvious clue about their purpose.

After some research and a little help from the online community, I learned they are corn holders — a nostalgic kitchen gadget that many people remember from backyard barbecues and family dinners.

What Are Corn Holders?
These tools are designed specifically for eating corn on the cob. You stick one into each end of a hot cob, allowing you to hold and eat it without burning your fingers or getting buttery mess all over your hands. The sharp prongs grip the cob securely, and the corn-shaped handle is a cute (and functional) touch.

Why Were They Popular?
Corn holders were especially common in mid-century kitchens and are still used today in many homes. They’re often sold in matching sets and typically made with plastic handles shaped like ears of corn — a playful design that also adds grip.

Why Do People Love Them?
Besides being practical, these little gadgets evoke warm memories of family dinners, summer cookouts, and simpler times. They’ve become a nostalgic symbol for many and are still loved by people who enjoy corn the old-fashioned way — straight off the cob, dripping with butter.
