Everyone has picked up on the same small detail in Trump’s May the 4th photo

Star Wars Day: Trump Seizes the Moment

May 4th, known as Star Wars Day, didn’t pass unnoticed by Donald Trump. Jumping on the occasion, the Department of Defense released a flashy five-minute Star Wars-themed video. It proudly highlighted recent military wins and quickly stirred a galaxy of online reactions.

The Image That Stole the Spotlight

Yet, it wasn’t the military’s brag reel that stole the show. Instead, a jaw-dropping White House post set the internet on fire. To mark Star Wars Day, they shared a computer-generated image of Trump — muscular, almost cartoonishly buff, wielding a lightsaber. Behind him stood U.S. flags and two bald eagles.

The caption read:
“Happy May the 4th to all, including the Radical Left Lunatics who are fighting so hard to bring Sith Lords, Murderers, Drug Lords, Dangerous Prisoners, & well-known MS-13 Gang Members, back into our Galaxy. You’re not the Rebellion – you’re the Empire. May the 4th be with you.”

Reactions Pour In

The post triggered a flood of reactions. Many were shocked it came from the official White House account. Others compared it to over-the-top social media content, with some joking it looked like amateur AI work.

The Red Lightsaber: A Glaring Detail

Most striking was the red lightsaber in Trump’s hand. For any Star Wars fan, that’s a clear symbol of the Sith — the villains. As creator George Lucas once said, “Good guys are green and blue, bad guys are red.”

So, the image meant to paint Trump as the hero ironically positioned him on the dark side.

Online Criticism Mounts

One X user pointed out the contradiction: “The lack of self-awareness and hypocrisy by calling the left ‘the empire’ while showing Trump with a Sith lightsaber.”

Some tried to defend the red saber, noting it matches the Republican Party’s color. But Star Wars offers plenty of other options — green, yellow, purple — none tied to Democrats’ blue. The red choice only deepened the irony.

Not the First AI Misstep

This wasn’t the White House’s first AI-generated Trump image. A past post showed Trump as the Pope, sparking backlash, especially after the Pope’s recent passing.

On Monday, Trump downplayed the controversy. Speaking to reporters, he said, “I just saw it last evening.” He added that Melania thought it was “cute.” Trump denied creating the Pope image, brushing off critics as people who “can’t take a joke.”
