Mom Shares Costco Breastfeeding Photo and Speaks Out Against Backlash

A Controversial Topic

As a society, we’re no strangers to controversy. What works for some may not work for others, but almost everyone has a strong opinion on the “right way” to do things. One topic that consistently sparks debate is breastfeeding, particularly in public. A recent photo shared by one mother stirred up mixed reactions online.

Breastfeeding Goes Viral

Breastfeeding plays a crucial role in a baby’s nourishment and offers numerous benefits, including building a strong emotional bond and boosting a baby’s immune system. Despite this, breastfeeding in public makes some people uncomfortable, even angry. In 2017, Instagram user Trinati, who has over 7,000 followers, posted a photo of herself breastfeeding her daughter inside a Costco. She proudly shared that she feeds her 17-month-old whenever needed, “never shying away from providing” for her children—even in public.

Capturing the Moment

Trinati asked her son to take the picture, explaining, “I want to show my daughter in the future the lengths we, as mothers, go to ensure our kids are well cared for, no matter the circumstances.”

The Challenges of Breastfeeding

“I don’t expect all men or people who haven’t breastfed to understand what we endure—nipple-pinching, or acrobatic breastfeeding positions,” Trinati added. She mentioned receiving strange looks and awkward giggles when people see her 1.5-year-old standing on her lap while feeding, sometimes even balancing on one leg!
