Back in the Spotlight
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have stepped back into the public eye, sparking fresh speculation. Recently, both appeared at public events—though not together. Despite expectations of a joint appearance at a prestigious event, Meghan Markle showed up alone.
Rumors and Clarifications
Meanwhile, Prince Harry pushed back against swirling divorce rumors. These followed criticism about his working relationship with Meghan, which a source described as being in a “very bad state.” A close friend stepped in, hoping to clear the air and offer context about the couple’s evolving dynamic.
Signs of Strain?
Royal biographer Angela Levin pointed to possible tensions. She highlighted Prince Harry’s unresolved U.S. visa issues and rumors about the couple house-hunting in Portugal. Levin commented, “They say they’re going to work separately, then they say they’re buying a house in Portugal—you don’t do that unless you plan to be apart most of the time.”
A Twin-Track Approach
Friends describe the couple’s current strategy as a “twin-track approach.” Harry continues to focus on his philanthropic work, while Meghan pursues entrepreneurial and commercial projects. Despite their separate paths, they remain committed to shared charitable efforts.

Thanksgiving with a Purpose
Meghan recently hosted a Thanksgiving dinner through The Archewell Foundation to honor Afghan women resettled in the U.S. The event, held at Our Place in Venice, California, offered storytelling, shared meals, and thoughtful gifts.
The Duchess thanked the women for sharing their stories, praising their resilience and strength. She expressed hope for more gatherings to build lasting connections.
Public Curiosity Grows
Their solo appearances have naturally fueled speculation about their relationship. At the 2024 DealBook Summit hosted by The New York Times, Prince Harry addressed the chatter—especially after Meghan was seen without her engagement ring.
With a dose of humor, he quipped, “Apparently, we’ve moved or divorced 10, 12 times. It’s just like, ‘What?’” He then shared how he copes with relentless rumors: by tuning them out. “Once you stop reading that stuff, you take away their power,” he said.
Separate but Supportive
While Harry spoke in New York, Meghan appeared in Beverly Hills at the 2024 Paley Honors Fall Gala. The event honored Tyler Perry, a close friend of the couple. Though Harry was named tribute chair alongside Meghan, he didn’t attend—yet another event they attended separately.
Celebrating Tyler Perry
At the gala, Meghan beamed as she celebrated Perry’s achievements in media and philanthropy. It marked their first red carpet appearance together. She had previously attended his 55th birthday celebration with Harry in September.
Their bond began in 2018 when Perry offered Meghan support before her royal wedding. It deepened in early 2020 when he offered the couple his private jet and Santa Barbara home as a safe refuge during their move to the U.S.
A Lasting Friendship
Perry recalled the moment fondly. “They hid out at my house for a long time. It was beautiful,” he said. He also emphasized the importance of offering them a safe space where they could speak freely and feel at peace.
His loyalty endures. He serves as godfather to Princess Lilibet and appeared in their Netflix documentary. On the “Today” show, Perry expressed his deep admiration, saying he hoped to have a bond like theirs someday.
