Second Woman Claims to Be Madeleine McCann
Nearly 18 years after Madeleine McCann vanished, a second woman has now stepped forward, claiming to be the missing child.
The Case That Shook the World
In 2007, three-year-old Madeleine disappeared from a resort in Lagos, Portugal, while on a family vacation. Despite massive investigations and media coverage, her fate remains unknown.
Authorities believe she was abducted. Still, many continue to hope she is alive. Over the years, several women have claimed to be her—including Polish-born Julia Wandelt.
Previous Claimant in the Spotlight
Julia Wandelt, 22, made headlines when she claimed DNA evidence linked her to Madeleine’s father, Gerry McCann. She was recently arrested in the UK for allegedly stalking the McCann family.
New Claim Emerges
Now, a second woman has come forward. Eugenea Collins, 22, from Arkansas, told MailOnline she began to suspect her true identity after struggling to obtain official documents.
“I can’t get any ID,” she said. “Not even the Red Cross would help after my house burned down.”
“I’ve never seen my original birth certificate—just a paper with another name crossed out and mine written above.”
Internet Skepticism Grows
Her claims sparked online debates. Many pointed out she lacks coloboma, the distinctive eye defect Madeleine had at birth.
One Reddit user noted,
“She doesn’t have the eye scar and shared photos of herself as a toddler—no mark visible.”
Another added,
“No offense, but your eye doesn’t have that defect like hers.”
An Instagram user speculated,
“Just another person chasing fame. Madeleine had detached earlobes—this woman’s are fully attached.”
DNA Results and a Bold Theory
Collins shared DNA results showing mostly British and Northwestern European ancestry. However, nothing directly links her to the McCann family.
She also claims her biological father might be Christian Brueckner, the German man suspected in Madeleine’s disappearance.
“I recognized him instantly,” she said. “I was told he was my father, but we’ve never met. People always said he was mentally unstable.”
