Rod Stewart’s Return to the Stage
Rod Stewart is hitting the road this year to perform songs from his new album, The Tears of Hercules. Fans will also enjoy classic hits from his 50-year career.

A Health Scare
Rod overcame thyroid cancer, but the surgery caused him to lose his voice. In an ITV Loose Women interview, he shared the impact it had on his life.

“I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer, and it was gone in five minutes,” he said. The operation was quick and painless, but it left him unable to sing. “I couldn’t sing a single note,” Rod admitted. “They hacked through my throat and pulled all my muscles apart.”

The Long Road to Recovery
Rod worked tirelessly to regain his voice. He joked, “I’d say, ‘Wake up, Maggie,’ but it seemed to have fled again. It took me six months to recover.”

A Reflective Moment
Rod later told USA Today about the shock of his diagnosis. “It was a slow-growing thyroid cancer, and I was lucky to catch it early. The surgery went well, and I’m in great shape now,” he explained.

He noted that facing such a health scare made him rethink his life priorities. “Anyone who’s been close to something life-threatening gains perspective,” he added.

Prostate Cancer Victory
In 2019, Rod revealed he had been treated for prostate cancer. “Two years ago, I was diagnosed,” he said at a Prostate Project benefit. “I’m free and clear now. I caught it early, and the Lord has provided for me.”

Rod encouraged others to get checked, humorously adding, “Sticking your finger up your keister won’t hurt.”
