Woman Punches Retired NYPD Detective Because Of His ‘Birthday Hat’

Retired NYPD Detective Daniel Sprague was punched in the face by a woman who disliked his “Make Fifty Great Again” hat. The hat was a birthday gift from his wife, paired with an American flag shirt. Sprague was celebrating at The Stage on Broadway when the woman attacked him.

Initially thinking it was a joke, Sprague was shocked when she punched him, and they were both kicked out of the venue. He later filed a police report, stating he didn’t retaliate. Sprague had received mixed reactions throughout the night, but none were violent until the incident.

Sprague later posted about the attack on Facebook, but eventually deleted the post. He emphasized that everyone is entitled to their opinion, noting that he would never resort to violence over political differences.
