JD Vance, U.S. Vice President, faced criticism for comments about a “random country that hasn’t fought a war in 30 years” while discussing Ukraine’s security. Despite speculation he referred to the UK or France—both pledging peacekeeping troops—Vance denied targeting them, calling such claims “absurdly dishonest.” He clarified on Twitter that many countries lack the military experience or equipment to meaningfully support Ukraine. Meanwhile, U.S. military aid to Ukraine was paused for review, a move welcomed by Russia. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed readiness to sign a deal granting the U.S. access to Ukraine’s mineral resources in exchange for security guarantees. A spokesperson for UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer emphasized the importance of protecting national interests and global security while supporting Ukraine. Vance’s remarks remain unclear, leaving his intended target and message ambiguous.
