Pete Hegseth receives major confirmation news!

Pete Hegseth, former Fox News host and controversial pick for Defense Secretary by president-elect Donald Trump, has enough backing from the GOP to be confirmed by the Senate.

As reported by CBS News, John Thune, the Senate Majority Leader, told Trump privately that he believed Pete Hegseth will have the votes to be confirmed as Secretary of Defense.

Trump, 78, has steadfastly defended Hegseth, overlooking allegations of misconduct during his career, including claims of financial mismanagement and binge drinking at two veterans advocacy groups.

However, former senior employees, among which a trustee from Concerned Veterans for America, denied the accusations by the anonymous whistleblower that Pete Hegseth was forced out as a result of misconduct.

Fellow soldiers who served with Hegseth in Afghanistan and Iraq spoke highly of his character.

“He breathes the military. That’s all he talks about,” Sgt. Maj. Eric Geressy, who served alongside Hegseth in Iraq in 2005, told The Post in an interview last month. “Pete’s extremely smart. He’s very articulate, he’s a critical thinker. He’s going to learn from the experts and get a lot of good information from folks.”

Scrutiny over Pete Hegseth comes amid allegations of sexual misconduct against him by an anonymous woman. She claimed he assaulted her at a California hotel in 2017. Hegseth and his legal team claimed the encounter was consensual. Following an investigation, prosecutors decided not to file charges.

According to an advisor, Hegseth is ready to discuss any and all allegations against him in meetings with senators.

Further, the U.S. Senate will hold a vote on his confirmation as early as next week.
