Donald Trump Contacts Norway with Unsettling Letter After Being Denied Nobel Peace Prize

Trump Demands Greenland from Norway in Leaked Letter

President Donald Trump has sent a startling letter to Norway, demanding that the U.S. take control of Greenland. The leaked document, obtained by PBS, shows Trump expressing frustration over not receiving the Nobel Peace Prize and criticizes Norway’s NATO role.

“No Longer Think Purely of Peace”

In the opening lines, Trump warns that he “no longer feels an obligation to think purely of peace.” He claims Norway denied him recognition for allegedly ending eight wars. Experts point out that Norway does not decide the Nobel Peace Prize; an independent committee handles it.

Greenland in the Spotlight

Trump reiterates his call for U.S. control over Greenland. He argues Denmark cannot defend the island against Russian or Chinese influence. The letter also dismisses Denmark’s historical claim, saying it only exists because “a boat landed there hundreds of years ago,” while noting the U.S. also sent ships to Greenland.

NATO Tensions and European Backlash

Trump’s letter criticizes NATO allies for not supporting him enough. He asserts, “I have done more for NATO than any other person since its founding, and now, NATO should do something for the United States.”

Meanwhile, Europe reacts strongly. Allies view the letter and recent trade tariffs as coercive. Trump’s White House recently imposed 10% tariffs on the UK and EU for opposing U.S. acquisition of Greenland. In response, UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer condemned the tariffs as “completely wrong.”

The Full Letter

Trump’s letter to Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre reads:

“Dear Jonas: Considering your Country decided not to give me the Nobel Peace Prize for having stopped 8 wars PLUS, I no longer feel an obligation to think purely of Peace, although it will always be predominant, but can now think about what is good and proper for the United State of America.

Denmark cannot protect the land from Russia or China, and why do they have a ‘right of ownership’ anyway? There are no written documents, it’s only that a boat landed there hundreds of years ago, but we had boats landing there also.

I have done more for NATO than any other person since its founding, and now, NATO should do something for the United States. The World is not secure unless we have Complete and Total Control of Greenland.

Thank you! President DJT.”

What This Means

The letter highlights escalating tensions between the U.S. and its NATO allies. Trump’s demands and threats, combined with recent tariffs, mark a rare moment of public strain over Greenland and European relations. Analysts warn that the situation could test alliances in unprecedented ways.
