Janice Dean shares reflective message after stepping away from Fox & Friends

Janice Dean is sharing a gentle update quietly, thoughtfully, and in her own way.

The longtime Fox & Friends meteorologist reappeared on social media on Thanksgiving with a gentle message about gratitude and perspective, weeks after viewers noticed her absence from the show.

Dean, 55, shared a short Thanksgiving video featuring her dog, Lola, joyfully racing through piles of fallen leaves, a simple moment that carried deeper meaning.

“Lola reminds us to be thankful for the little things in life,” Janice Dean wrote in the caption.
“Piles of leaves and dirt can bring absolute joy (and zoomies!).
Happy Thanksgiving, my friends. Love to you all. JD.”

A Quiet Update After Time Away

The post marked Dean’s first social media update since she stepped away from television and social media last month last month, prompting questions from viewers.

On November 12, Dean addressed her absence directly, explaining that she would be taking a break from work to focus on her health. While she reassured followers that she was doing okay, she acknowledged that she needed time to rest and heal.

“My bosses at Fox have been kind and understanding, and I feel blessed to be able to take a break to be with my family,” she said at the time.

True to the openness viewers have long associated with her, Dean emphasized that she didn’t want to disappear without an explanation.

“I felt I owed you an explanation of my absence,” she wrote. “But I will be back.”

Gratitude — and Looking Ahead

Dean’s Thanksgiving message struck a warm, reassuring tone, centering on small joys rather than details about her condition. The understated update resonated with longtime fans, many of whom have followed her personal journey for years.

While she did not share specifics about her current health, Dean has previously been open about living with multiple sclerosis, an autoimmune disease she was diagnosed with in 2005. She has spoken candidly about that experience in interviews and in her 2019 memoir, Mostly Sunny: How I Learned to Keep Smiling Through the Rainiest Days.

For now, Dean appears focused on rest, family, and moments of everyday happiness, a message embodied perfectly by a dog, a pile of leaves, and a reminder to slow down.

And while her message was brief, it carried a familiar reassurance to viewers who miss seeing her on their screens each morning: she’s taking care of herself, and she plans to return.
