A billionaire contributed $10K to the GoFundMe supporting the ICE agent involved in the fatal shooting of Renee Nicole Good

Billionaire Donates $10K to ICE Agent Who Shot Renee Good

Billionaire hedge fund manager Bill Ackman made headlines after donating $10,000 to a GoFundMe supporting ICE agent Jonathan Ross, who fatally shot anti-ICE protester and mother of three, Renee Nicole Good.

Ackman, 59, confirmed the contribution after social media users speculated about the top donor listed as “William Ackman.” He wrote on X:

“I am a big believer in our legal principle that one is innocent until proven guilty. To that end, I supported the @gofundme for Jonathan Ross and intended to similarly support the GoFundMe for Renee Good’s family (her page had closed by the time I attempted to contribute).”

GoFundMe for Good’s Family Already Closed

Good’s family fundraiser had surpassed $1.5 million before Ackman tried to donate. Her widow and children are listed as beneficiaries.

Meanwhile, the GoFundMe for Ross has raised over $270,000, with Ackman’s public support driving renewed attention. The page aims to cover “any legal services this officer needs.”

ICE Agent Fired During Protest

Federal officials stated that Ross fired “defensive shots” after Good allegedly clipped his vehicle during a Minneapolis protest. Video footage shows Ross firing one shot through the windshield and two more through the driver’s side window, capturing Good’s final moments in her maroon car.

Ross had previously been injured in a vehicle-ramming incident on the job, heightening the tension of the encounter.

Controversy and Media Reactions

The campaign organizer, who does not appear to personally know Ross, criticized media coverage of Good, calling it “media BS about a domestic terrorist.”

The incident has sparked intense online debate, dividing opinions on law enforcement and protester safety.

Ackman Reflects on Broader Divide

Ackman also addressed the wider implications. He wrote:

“The whole situation is a tragedy. An officer was doing his job, and a protester likely did not intend to kill him. Yet, a split-second decision led to her death. Our country is stronger if we work together to resolve the complex issues tearing us apart.”

Ackman’s Wealth Context

Ackman, founder of Pershing Square Capital Management, has a reported net worth of $9.3 billion. His $10,000 donation equals roughly 0.0001075% of his fortune.

Ross GoFundMe Remains Active

The GoFundMe for Ross remains open. However, the organizer warned that if Ross’ family does not respond by March 9, all donations will be refunded.
