Uvalde Mourns Regina Santos-Aviles
The Uvalde community is grieving the loss of Regina Santos-Aviles, 35, a congressional staffer for U.S. Representative Tony Gonzales. She was found seriously injured outside her home and transported to a San Antonio hospital, where she later passed away.
Investigation Underway
Authorities, including the Texas Rangers and the Uvalde Police Department, launched an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding her death. Police Chief Homer E. Delgado said there is no indication of foul play at this time, but all unexplained deaths are routinely investigated. The Bexar County Medical Examiner is conducting a full review, with results expected in the coming weeks. Family members are fully cooperating.
A Dedicated Public Servant
Santos-Aviles served as regional district director for Rep. Gonzales’ office since November 2021. She played a pivotal role in helping local communities access resources and development opportunities. In a statement, Rep. Gonzales said she “devoted her profession toward making a difference” and would always be remembered for her passion for serving Uvalde and the surrounding region.
